Been a while...

So....Haven't posted in a while. So much for a current blog. My bad.

But anywho, I attend this Bible Study now for Younglife and we were recently talking about how to behave as a Christian. If were supposed to spread God's word, how do we do this without being too aggressive or too passive? Where is the in between where we won't freak non-Christians out and where we would be doing absolutely nothing?

Well, my whole thing is to show love. It's really hard. I admit, there is no possible way I could love everyone. I don't even like everyone. But, guess what. You are not going to be able to change EVERYONE. It just isn't possible.
For those who don't know, I gave devotions at my old high school from sixth grade on and all I ever cared for was to inspire at least one person. Yes, our job on this Earth is to spread God's word. Christians, if you didn't know this, now you do. We all should be singing the song call "Here Am I" by Mercy Me. Here are a couple lyrics that would be great to think about:
"Whether foreign land or neighbors
Everyone's the same
Searching for the answers
That lie within your name
I want to proclaim the love of Jesus
In all I do and say
Unashamed"

That is powerful right there ladies and gentleman. No, I'm not asking you to go screaming, preaching down the street. That actually would be a deterrent. And no, there isn't a set way to spread the word to everyone. So all I have is: SHOW GOD'S AMAZING LOVE THROUGH YOUR EVERY DAY LIFE! Don't be fake now. And do not fret when you make mistakes. We are all sinners, remember? Also, patience is truly a virtue. Not only will you not be able to inspire everyone, but the people you eventually do inspire will take some serious time and work. Don't give up!

Finally, yes, God desires us to do his will on this Earth by spreading his Amazing love and amazing word; but, don't forget that you still need Him to help you. Pray to God to send his message through you to the world.

Now, get out there and live, laugh, and love!

My First Blog

Recently talking with a friend, I found that a majority of people have stopped going to church because of the hypocrital ways of the people attending or they couldn't find a church they felt that they belonged to. Now, this blog isn't a substitute for church but I want this blog to be able to still give everyone the message of God and create a digital fellowship, if you will.
With this first blog, I wanted to be able to tell people that having fellowship with other Christians is a very important aspect in your life. I remember a couple of years ago, I was unhappy with some of the Christians I hung out with because they lived a life where they were just "Sunday Christians." There is actually a song that we would sing that went like this:
"I don't want to be, I don't want to be a casual Christian. I don't want to live, I don't want to live a lukewarm life. I want to light up the night with an everlasting light. I don't want to live a casual Christian life."
So, we would sing this song and I would see the people singing it with me and wonder how they could sing that song with the life they lived. I even got to a point where I would rather not go to the church and just find a small group of Christians to have a weekly get together to talk about the word of God. Now, I'm not saying that everyone is perfect and sinless, especially not me, but I think as Christians we should strive to live more like Jesus which is what He calls us to do. Yes, "for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God," Romans 3:23. However, we should all put in a little more effort in our every day lives.
Yes, you will sin. Yes, it will most likely happen again. But, I challenge each of you today to start realizing the sins being made and at least try to correct them.

Well, I guess that wraps up my very first blog. I hope that I instilled some fire in your bones to go out and talk more about God and live your life more like Jesus. Remember, we are not perfect but perfection is what we should strive for.

Have a great day!
Emily
